Waste Basket with Herringbone Motif Pattern
This original pattern was used to make the finished basket which has the same name and is listed for sale on this website. It is now available for you to download. The finished basket is 9" x 9" at the base, 10 1/2" outside diameter at the handles, 10 1/2" to the top of the rim, and 12" to the top of the handle. Of course you can use a simpler motif and just use the directions for this very sturdy and functional waste baskets. The bushel handles provide an unobtrusive way to hang the handles of a plastic grocery bag inside the waste basket for a liner. I have made waste baskets with 10 3/4" flat reed stakes cut 36" long and 40" diagonal stakes. I used 4" bushel handles on those baskets. They have a larger base, so the stakes have to be longer in order to get a waste basket with the same proportions as this one.
